ABOUT

Bad Theology was founded in 2015 by Thomas Torrey and Justin Moretto with a vision to produce independent films with a bold voice. The company’s first film was the micro-budget thriller FARE, which premiered at the 2016 Newport Beach Film Festival and was released in 2017 by Random Media and The Orchard. Praised by the Los Angeles Times as “stunning”, FARE was picked as one of the ten best films of the year by Addicted to Horror and Bloody Flicks. FARE was written and directed by Torrey and filmed entirely inside a car in only three days.

In the summer of 2018, Bad Theology partnered with Relic Pictures to produce the scifi thriller MINOR PREMISE, about a neuroscientist and an experiment gone bad. The film premiered in 2020 at Fantasia and Sitges. MINOR PREMISE was directed by Relic founder Eric Schultz and written by Torrey, Moretto & Schultz. The film became Rotten Tomatoes “Certified Fresh”, with Forbes calling it, “One of the best sci-fi films in the last few years.”

Bad Theology’s third feature, LONG DECEMBER, an arthouse Christmas musical written and directed by Torrey, premiered in 2023 at the Heartland Film Festival and is in the middle of its festival run. Visit Films is handling sales for a 2024 public release.

Bad Theology’s fourth feature will be the southern thriller ALL THE NAMES WE BURIED, written and directed by Torrey, currently in packaging. The project was the runner up to the 2021 Ford Producer’s Grant and was one of only two American films selected to present at the 2021 Frontières Showcase at Marche du Cannes.
